Cargobike as a modular platform for sensors
The quality of self-learning neural networks and artificial intelligence is largely dependent on the quantity, quality and diversity of the training data used. In order to represent reality in the best possible way, environmental and mobility data must also be recorded away from main roads. The two-wheeled SenseBike enables both the modular integration of different sensor types and their use to generate a pool of data on cycle roads and paths. It will be used intensively for this purpose, including in the autonomous driving test field “Testfeld Autonomes Fahren”.
The aim of the project is to develop a cargo bike into a platform for a variety of sensor tasks. The cargo bike will be equipped with a modular loading area that can be fitted with a sensor platform weighing up to 80 kg. It will include additional energy supply and an electric drive, enabling a sporty speed of 25 km/h, even off the beaten track.
The cargo bike will be used intensively as a digital showcase at public events.
The generated data can be made available to other researchers in a public and anonymized database, e.g. via the non-profit trust agency for mobility data.
