LAB2 - FC-Bat-Truck-Lab

The fuel cell-battery hybrid truck as a driving laboratory

In this project, a fuel cell-battery hybrid truck is developed and built. The truck will be used as a driving laboratory for the investigation of fuel cell and battery  systems in real driving conditions. The drive system is modularly designed in such a way that the fuel cell system, the hydrogen storage system and the battery system can be exchanged individually. This makes it possible to test the system behavior with different hybridization variants in connection with the available infrastructure.

Setup

  • 7.5-ton truck to demonstrate different application scenarios
  • Design of a powertrain with variable degree of hybridization
  • Modular system design (interchangeability guaranteed)
    • Fuel cell system: approx. 70 kW
    • Hydrogen storage, 700 bar, approx. 10 kg
    • Battery system: approx. 240 kW, approx. 70 kWh
    • E-axis: 170 kW
    • Flexible power electronics
