SElf Learning Functional Laser Micromachining
Ultra-short pulsed lasers are universal tools that can be used to realize high-precision manufacturing processes for a wide range of materials. A major challenge is the optimal adjustment of laser and machine to each new part, especially for small batch sizes.
The goal of the project is the implementation of a self-learning laser machine , which takes over the design and optimization of the most efficient and economical laser parameters itself and manufactures the required part geometry automatically. For this purpose, artificial neural networks are trained to map the process.
The process is intended to work largely without human interaction and thus increase the applicability of laser technology for innovations in the fields of medical technology, microelectronics, precision mechanics and photonics.
