AD2 - Flexible integration of individual inserts by inline process-controlled subtractive post-processing and non-planar additively manufactured thermoplastic components
The FLINK project aims to enable a flexible and precisely fitting integration of individual inserts into a FFF(Fused Filament Fabrication)-based polymer component manufacturing.
This requires suitable planning, closed loop control and combination of additive and subtractive processes, which should solve the inherent challenge of the FFF process with regard to component accuracy. This is intended to realize "first-time-right" manufacturing. Optimal integration of the inserts, especially for more complex geometries, shall be enabled by using a non-planar slicing strategy (NPS). In order to minimise geometric restrictions as much as possible, a new NPS strategy is therefore being developed in parallel with an optimized print head. An inline process control is being developed for targeted subtractive post-processing and to increase the accuracy of the final part dimensions. The application of the manufacturing principle will be tested on a demonstrator from the field of electromobility.
