The international trade fair for innovations in the plastics and rubber industry
The K Trade Fair is regarded as the world’s leading trade show for the plastics and rubber industry. Each time, the event attracts a wide range of professionals from manufacturing, processing, and related industries such as mechanical engineering, the automotive sector, electronics, medical technology, the packaging industry, and the construction sector. They come from around the globe to learn about the latest innovations and to establish valuable business connections. A broad spectrum of products and services is showcased, including machinery, equipment, raw materials, and measurement technology.
As the only trade fair of its kind, it presents a wide array of complex solutions, attracts international exhibitors and visitors, and serves as the stage for numerous world premieres. This is where innovation and progress come together — inspiring experts, users, and decision-makers from across the globe.
The Institute for Plastics Technology at the University of Stuttgart (IKT) will once again be represented with a large stand at the leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, “K” in Düsseldorf, in 2025. The focus of the presentation on the almost 100 square meter IKT area on the Science Campus in Hall 7 will include the “eVee” test vehicle, a small and efficient light vehicle, and a system for inline analysis of plastic granulate.
Answers to practical questions
The eVee light vehicle from the Innovation Campus Future Mobility (ICM) is intended to contribute to sustainable and networked mobility as part of an autonomous car-sharing fleet. One of many plastics-related projects in the test vehicle presented is a reluctance motor with a plastic-reinforced rotor developed with IKT involvement. This is intended to help reduce the demand for rare earth metals in the construction of electric motors. Inline monitoring of granulate production is another example of the many practical development projects that the institute is pursuing independently or with partners.
