On September 1, 2023, Professor Anne Meyer was appointed to the Chair of "Data Science in Mechanical Engineering" in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at KIT. Together with Professor Arne Rönnau, she heads the Institute for Information Management in Engineering (IMI).
Data science offers a variety of methods that can be used to make good decisions based on data - either by humans or by machines. The selection and appropriate combination of methods, depending on the task, goal and available data, is the central focus of her current research. To this end, she uses methods from the fields of optimization, machine learning and logic.
After studying technical economics at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), Anne Meyer initially worked in Switzerland for a year before moving to the FZI Research Center for Information Technology in Karlsruhe. For over ten years, she held various roles and worked in publicly funded projects and in a variety of contract research projects for industry partners in the fields of data analytics and mathematical optimization.Parallel to her work at the FZI, Anne Meyer completed her doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. From 2008, she spent five years as a junior professor and then professor for "Digitalization in Corporate Logistics and Supply Chain Management" at TU Dortmund University. In 2024, she returned to KIT and now holds the chair for "Data Science in Mechanical Engineering". She also returned to the FZI as Director.
