Magnesium-sulfur batteries with high gravimetric and volumetric energy density
The goal of the project was to realize a Mg-S battery with high volumetric and gravimetric energy density >1480 W.h/L and (>800 W.h/kg, respectively) and high cycling stability (capacity loss after 350 cycles <10%). Also, the optimal cell chemistry should be scaled up to pouch cell level and a processing of the electrodes, as well as electrolyte filling under dry room conditions should be tested. This would enable the battery systems to meet the general requirements for emission-free and resource-saving mobility and energy storage concepts.
