BUP2 - Targeted modification of silicon steel properties in specific areas of the rotor of an electric motor to improve performance

The project proposed to selectively modify the electromagnetic properties in specific areas of the rotor core to reduce magnetic flux leakage and ultimately increase speeds and power densities of electric machines. The key challenge of this project was how to modify the electromagnetic properties of the flux bridge regions without reducing mechanical strength.
